Wedding Blogs Power 100 List

Now that Judith is blogging about bridal jewelry, of course she asks me which are the top wedding blogs?

“Er,” I responded, “I’m not sure.

“Well, can you find out for me?”

“Uh, okay,” wondering what I’ve gotten myself into.

Being an intuitive marketer, logically I decided to take the analytical approach. I began with a few Google Blog Search queries. As I looked at different web sites I copied their blogrolls. Next I visited the links on the blogrolls and copied their blogrolls. This cycle went on for awhile until I felt like the blog names I saw were too repetitious.

Next I isolated the links and visited each blog to make sure it was indeed a wedding blog. I’ll admit I made several judgement calls, especially where businesses were concerned. Was that event planning blog also a wedding blog? In cases like this, if the business appeared mostly wedding related I included thier blog. If they seemed too broadly focused beyond weddings I tended to exclude them.

So now I had a big list of wedding blogs. How should I rank them? Luckily, lots of metrics are readily available. Here are the statistics I gathered:

By gathering a wide variety of metrics I hoped to normalize each blogs overall score and create a somewhat accurate list. I won’t go into exactly how I did the math. Let’s just call that my secret sauce.

So that’s what I did. The final list is close to 500 blogs long and it includes quite a few standouts, which brings me to this post. I decided to share the top 100 blogs on the list. Well call it…

Is your wedding blog on the list? Do you think it should be?

A couple things you can do to make your blog easier to find is to register your web site or claim your blog on sites like Alexa and Technorati. Check to see if your blog appears in Google Blog Search and Yahoo! Search. If not, your blog may not be pinging, notifying the search engines when you post a new story.

One last thing…you probably noticed I added a “beta” label to the list name. That’s because I plan to upgrade and update the list. Eventually the list will get its own web page on Looney Maiden and blogs on the list will be able to add a widget or image proclaiming that they are a Power Wedding Blogger.
